Myopenbar.com
Over the past year I have been ask numerous times how I am able to get free open bars or find great drink specials in New York, which happens to be one of the most expensive city's to live in. Last year, I was recommended to subscribe to myopenbar.com, which provides a guide for cheap and free bar deals throughout New York City, including Brooklyn and Queens. I discovered Pearls and Silk Road Palace, two Chinese restaurant that offer free wine with your meal, from their listings. Porky's NYC, with their one hour free open bar on Fridays and Saturdays, was another establishment I stumbled upon that was listed on myopenbar. I have found random free wine tasting across Manhattan, special promotions for liquors and beer, and my favorite Jack Bauer Happy Hour at Professor Thoms, for all the 24 fanatics over the age of 21. The site is always worth a look, but many of their events sounds a bit shady.
Looking at this weeks listing it is possible I could attend the Guitar Hero Competition at Village Pourhous on Friday or the Annual Bike Kill in Bed-Stuy, which I may not be hipster enough to join. The site says it is "not for the faint of heart, the 5th Annual Bike Kill takes place out in
Bed-Stuy and is, essentially, a festival of cathartic destruction mired
in giant papier-mâché dolls, tall-bike jousting, and mutant bike, DIY fun. Starts outside in the afternoon, party nearby all night."
Drink responsibly
